By all means...Do your magic on it...and sell it for a profit if you can't find a place for it! But then on the other hand...maybe you will keep it and get rid of something else!
I have a hutch that I bought at a thrift store, completely redid it, paint, knobs, hinges the works. Then I moved to a smaller space and had NO room for it. It now resides in a storage unit...It did make for a nice blog post, but now I would LOVE for someone to just buy it from me because a lot of blood sweat and tears went into it!

It's beautiful! You don't have to use it for China, you could use it to store/display your craft supplies or clothing and accessories.
