Fall Decor at the G-Dub?

I was visiting my local Goodwill store yesterday and they were stocking the shelves with brand new Fall Decor. It looked like it came from JoAnn's maybe? If you hurry you might be able to pick some up! Go Go Go!

Gleeeeee!

What did you think? I can't wait!!
*Update... Loved it, buuuut Rachel needs to put 10 pounds back on. I don't love the Hollywood starved look. Ick!

Alllll We Are Saying......Is Give Goooodwilllll A Chance...

I love the idea that you can buy a maxi dress from Goodwill, put a t-shirt with it, add a piece of leather for a headband, put a wildflower in your hair, and you have the most adorable iconic look for Halloween (or anytime). Love Child, Hippie Chic, 70's girl. You can call it what you like, I call it adorable, fashionable, frugal and FUN!

Oprah.....

Do you happen to read Oprah Magazine? The August issue was the Big Deal Issue! It says "Everything That Oprah is Wearing is Under $100.00" That is a little misleading. Each piece that Oprah is wearing is under $100.00. Oprah can afford to wear whatever she wants let's face it, but the rest of us ARE in fact looking for good deals.

So this month in the October issue Molly McGlasson from Allen, Texas wrote in to say...... "When you add up all of the pieces of clothing it all adds up to $628. Why not have her in an entire outfit that costs less than $100? Now that would be a great story. "

Here you go Molly. Notice that both Oprah and I are wearing the SAME Banana Republic Sweater. Hers was $70, mine was $4.99. All of the clothing that I'm wearing are brands that are affordable in the first place. The NYandCo pants that I bought still had the tags on them! Look Oprah it can be done.

*I didn't include any jewelry in my price, but I had money left over and the Leetsdale Goodwill had very similar jewelry in the front case. (I don't really wear jewelry very often so I left it out.)

You do have to go often, and I went looking with this outfit in mind. I shopped the Leetsdale, Littleton and Belleview stores to put this outfit together!

Halloween at the G-Dub Part 4

For our final G-Dub outfits I thought we would throw in some literary figures.
Outfit from Goodwill Posies from The Pleated Poppy

Adore the outfit.....Love the price!
Long Sleeved Shirt-$4.99
Yellow Floral Dress-$6.99
Top Apron Dress (NWT)$6.99
I found all of the items in the womens section on Belleview

Atticus Finch contemplates the fate of Tom Robinson...the jury deliberates.
He can wear this suit for any special occasion, and since kids seem to grow out of dress clothes after one wearing, re-donate to Goodwill and pick up another suit!

Laura Ingalls Wilder

My model loved the outfit so much she kept it for school. She looks amazing!

Pair this outfit with cowboy boots for a casual look or dress shoes for services!

(Laura probably didn't wear pink flip flops but the grass was sharp!

Halloween at the G-Dub Part 3

Here is the latest Goodwill Dress Up Costume.

My little model is a "Dressage Rider".

Or "Horse-Riding Girl" works too! We are lucky to have such amazing items to choose from at our local Goodwill stores here. I picked up the Dressage helmet at the store on Belleview, but the store in Parker is horse-heaven. The Parker store had a helmet as well as numerous horse and rodeo related items.

We walked over to a barn near our house and shot away!

We left the tags on so that you could see the ENTIRE outfit is from G-Dub.

Black Blouse with bow $4.99

Harlequin Sweater $3.99

Helmet $5.99

(you could spray paint a bike helmet or cover a bike helmet in velvet)

Black pants $4.99

(you could use black softball/baseball pants or sweats even.)

I found these custom made cowboy boots at the store on Parker and Belleview. They didn't have a size listed, but they were most likely a size 7.

$12.99 (the splurge)

(too small for the model! ouch!)

We put this costume together entirely of Goodwill items, but you could always cut costs by adding things from your own closet.

I love that she looks adorable, she is modestly dressed, and that she could use any of the items later!

Goodwill Halloween Costumes work for me!

Dress up with Goodwill!

I wanted to do a post about putting together costumes from the G-Dub so I gathered my goodies..... hung them all up...

Invited all of the neighborhood kids over for a little dress-up and a photo shoot!

Look at all of the great things I found....

(Leetsdale and Belleview Goodwill Stores)

Who do we have here?...Well it's baby Yoda, Princess Leia, and Hans Solo at the door. Why yes, Hans loves himself some Crocs!! All from G-Dub! The Yoda is a baby or toddler costume and I added a green baby hat all from the store on Belleview. (49 cents with the tags still on!) My little friend next door wanted all of the Star Wars family costumes, but then when it was her turn to dress up she backed out. She's three.....a girl has the right to change her mind! We tried!!

There are racks of ready made costumes at Goodwill right now. Shop now for your dress-up closet for pennies! (really pennies) Wash them up and you can save some money to buy the BIG Snickers bars! (to hide in the freezer for when the kids are at school!)

Happy Shopping!

Halloween costumes that won't scare you! Part 1

In my humble opinion there is nothing worse than the current trend of hooched up little girls Halloween costumes! I dropped my son off at a party last year (8th grade) and Sexy Alice in Wonderland and Hot Naughty nurse answered the door. Needless to say I was a little shocked that their parents were standing right behind them, and I had to stifle the urge to throw a blanket over the whole mess! In full disclosure I would have begged my mom for some hot Halloween costume and she would not have permitted it, which would have caused a serious fit on my part, but now that I'm a parent I "get it".

Here are some adorable "costumes" that I created from the Goodwill. I went to the Leetsdade and Belleview stores to gather my goods. Dress up gear still in the packaging.
Good Afternoon Ghost Bustahs........

Goodwill has racks and racks of traditional costumes that are just waiting for you!

I had something a little different in mind than the pre-made variety. Keeping in mind that schools have a "no gore" policy, and we are keeping the little girls covered up, I came up with some appropriate costumes with a little money and a bit of imagination.

I say Sally Draper, but you can call her "1950's Girl".
The princess phone is from the Goodwill on Leetsdale ($7.99)
Adorable Polka-Dot Dress is from the Goodwill on Belleview ($4.99)
(the vintage crinoline is from my collection)

Brilliant Doctor, Caring Veterinarian, Hard Working Nurse

Every Goodwill has a large section of scrubs for you to choose from. Prices range from $3.99 to $6.99

Princess Leah with the fabulous cinnamon roll buns on her head!

Costume from Goodwill on Belleview ($4.99)

(I think this is an "angel" or "queen" costume that we added suede boots and cool cinnamon roll buns that were twisted by me.)

With a little imagination and some good searching skills you can put together a modest, fun and apropriate costume for your little girl or boy!

Shop Goodwill first and see what you can put together. Come back for more costumes every day this week!

Outdoorsy..How I did it for $66.44

I was looking for a little G-Dub project for men's clothes. My DH does not want me shopping for him so I asked my brother if he would be my guinea pig. He's a pretty easy going guy so he said sure. My brother is a very outdoorsy, fishing, Jeep driving, camping sort of guy, and he is an environmental biologist so I wanted to get him some work clothes that were stylish yet functional. In comes Eddie Bauer. Perfect. So I wondered if I could replicate the Eddie Bauer look from my local G-Dub. Turns out I could.
We're off to a good start.

Nice
